Hello, October!
This year has both sped by insanely fast, and slogged on excruciatingly slow.
After finding out about my NET cancer back in May, the following weeks spent waiting for my first oncology appointment felt like trying to run through sand: so effortful, for only a slow progression towards your finish line. After my initial cluster of doctor’s appointments, it was determined that I was still in the “active surveillance,” stage, and the plan was to get a follow-up sigmoidoscopy (a slightly less invasive colonoscopy) in October to check for any tumor regrowth. October felt like it was eons away, but the waiting period was necessary– a re-check too soon could give me a premature all-clear, not giving any potential new tumors enough time to grow large enough to be seen.
